On July 13, 2024, a shrine visit ceremony was held at the Gion Festival.
A child on a white horse, dressed in Heian-era costume, rides from the town hall of Nagatohoko to Yasaka Shrine.
At the shrine visitation ceremony, the children are given ranks and become "messengers of the gods".
It is customary not to set foot on the ground in public until the procession is over.
At Yasaka Shrine, many people were waiting for the arrival of the children.
Finally, on the 17th, the Yamaboko procession will take place!
The children have a big role to start the procession by cutting the shimenawa (sacred straw rope).
