This is a story of Danny Rolling, also known as the "Gainesville Ripper," committed a series of brutal murders in Gainesville, Florida, in 1990. Over a span of three days, August 24-27, 1990, Rolling killed five students from the University of Florida: 17-year-old Sonja Larson, 18-year-old Christina Powell, 23-year-old Christa Hoyt, 20-year-old Tracy Paules, and 23-year-old Manny Taboada.
Rolling's methods were particularly gruesome, involving torture, mutilation, and positioning the victims' bodies in disturbing poses. The crimes shocked the college town, sparking widespread fear and outrage. Rolling was arrested on September 7, 1990, after a massive investigation.
Danny Rolling was convicted of the five murders and sentenced to death. He was executed by lethal injection on October 25, 2006, at Florida State Prison. Rolling's motivations remained unclear, but his actions left a lasting impact on the Gainesville community. His case was highly publicized, inspiring numerous true crime books, documentaries, and films.
