The German tennis legend may come to regret engaging with the outspoken Australian. Boris Becker likely didn’t anticipate such a sharp response from Nick Kyrgios after commenting on a social media post poking fun at the Australian star. Kyrgios, known for his candid nature, made his return to Grand Slam competition at the Australian Open last month and had been vocal about the doping controversy surrounding Jannik Sinner leading up to the tournament. Sinner initially avoided suspension despite testing positive for clostebol in March, arguing that he was unknowingly exposed to the substance during a physiotherapy session. This decision enraged Kyrgios, who repeatedly criticized the world No.1 both in press conferences and on social media. Following an appeal from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Sinner eventually accepted a three-month suspension. However, Kyrgios remained unimpressed and took to X to voice his frustration. "WADA originally stated the ban should be one or two years,” he wrote. “Sinner’s team did everything possible to reduce it to three months, with no loss of titles or prize money. Guilty or not? A sad day for tennis. Fairness in this sport does not exist.” On Saturday, the Swish Tennis account mocked Kyrgios’ persistent criticism by sharing an edited image of him appearing elderly and lying in a hospital bed. The caption humorously implied that Kyrgios had spent decades ranting about the controversy.
