I made a trip down with a few friends down south to chase N&W J Class 4-8-4 #611's first excursions of 2016. Accompanying her for the trips were NS ES44AC #8099 'Southern' heritage unit, and Southern FP7 #6133, owned by the North Carolina Transportation Museum. 611 made two roundtrips out of the museum on Saturday, April 9th and Sunday, April 10th. Saturday's trip was to Lynchburg, VA. Sunday's trip was to Asheville, NC. We see many runby's of the locomotive as she works hard to pull her 22-car train. Also a few iconic locations including the silos in Ruffin, Yadkin River Bridge in Catawba, and the infamous Loops just outside of Old Fort, expertly engineered by the Southern Railway to climb the Blue Ridge Mountains. Please enjoy!
