Competitive Singles was once absolutely dominated by the Normal type.
A type designed to be Average was actually excellent due to its non-existent Weaknesses and powerful STAB attacks like Body Slam and Hyper Beam.
After Gen 1, the Normal type would start living up to its name more. As the power level increased over the years, a Neutral typing with no resistances became less and less desirable.
And that single weakness to Fighting is quite a bad one to have, as Fighting types became better and got more powerful options over time too.
Let's explore the Normal Type in Competitive Pokemon and he interesting journey it has undergone.
