I walk on 34th Street, from Herald Square, and transition to 33rd Street at 8th Avenue, passing Moynihan Train Hall, until I reach Hudson Yards. Along the way, I pass by a lot of shops, and if you are specifically interested in photography/video equipment then B&H is on 9th Avenue between 33rd and 34th Street.
B&H was so overwhelming the first time I went! There was so much to see, and the process to checkout and pick up a purchase was interesting!
My thoughts about the walk? For an afternoon walk during the middle of the week, I was really surprised by how many people were walking about! I know, I know. I was in one of the most popular touristy areas, but still...I thought tourist season died down after the summer months😅 To be fair, I also walked around the start of when folks generally take lunch. Oh well.
General note: Passing by people can be annoying under narrow sidewalks and scaffolding, so if you can spare a few minutes and slow down (I really need to practice this - I walk too fast) I highly recommend that. Also, you can see more of a city you're visiting when you slow down and look up/around.
