The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Kyoto, but sadly many of you are stuck at home at the moment. We are lucky enough to have a gorgeous weeping cherry tree in the back garden, so thought it would be nice to show you an outdoor tea ceremony beneath the sakura.
Outdoor tea ceremonies, known as Nodate (野点), are quite different from those performed in tearooms and teahouses. Much like a picnic, all the equipment needed for the ceremony is carried in a box called a Chabako (茶箱).
