For most of PlayStation’s existence, they have been on top of the gaming world. Consistently outselling their competition, and frequently having the most popular console of each generation, PlayStation hasn’t spent a lot of time at the bottom. That is, besides the PlayStation 3 generation. This was a rocky console for Sony, filled with incredible highs and even more incredible lows. The PlayStation 3 is often seen as PlayStation’s biggest failure, and in most ways it was. But would you believe me if I said the PlayStation 3 actually outsold the Xbox 360? It’s a fact that not many realize, primarily since the 360 was ahead for so long. How did this happen? How did a console that was in last place for most of its life cycle, end up passing its biggest competitor at the last second? This is how to save a console.
