The big jump to color eh? In 2002, we got Ruby and Sapphire- initially these two were conceived as reboots of Pokémon, scrapping the old and starting fresh- transferring from Gameboy to the brand new Gameboy Advance was a difficult task, so why bother? But someone at Gamefreak thought different- repopulate the games with old Pokémon via a series of side games- none the least a full blown remake of Red and Blue- not even 10 years off from the original. FireRed and LeafGreen brought those classics to a new era, for better and worse in 2004, when these games weren't yet yearly- modernizing the mechanics up to the then current style of Ruby and Sapphire, while still maintaining a fairly strict adherence to the originals.
