For today's episode of "Professional Dancer Reacts" I analyze to SB19 "Moonlight" Practice and Performance Video
Song: SB19"Moonlight"
Choreographer: Jay Joseph Roncesvalles
I just finished doing a deep dive analysis of SB19's "Moonlight" choreography, and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you. This performance really showcases some unique and interesting elements that I enjoyed breaking down.
Here are 5 key things I loved about the "Moonlight" choreography:
• The powerful simplicity of the movements. While the choreography may look simple, it requires intense focus and energy to execute properly.
• Creative use of formations and transitions. The constant shifts in direction and spacing were mind-boggling and added visual interest.
• Contrast between big, strong shapes and subtle, groovy moments. This dynamic range kept the choreography engaging throughout.
• The one-take format and clever camera work. It made the viewer feel intimately involved in the performance space.
• Versatility in style compared to SB19's other choreography. This piece had a more abstract, Lady Gaga-esque vibe that showcased their range.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the choreography as well! What elements stood out to you? Did you notice any details I might have missed? Share your reactions in the comments below.
