The 5.7L Hemi V8 engine is highly speculated to be returning to the Ram 1500 pick-up truck lineup as early as 2026. The Ram 1500 trucks sales figured have be plummeting seelingly due to lack of interest in the new 3L twin turbo charged hurricane engines and the rather higher price tags of the ram 1500 trucks. Could bringing back the tried and true naturally asperated V8 Hemi engine turn things around?

Well I thought the 5.7L Hemi was a relic of the past. something we would be discussing when talking about "the good old days" turns out its coming back into production.
Mopar insider dropped some pretty heavy information on their website about the heavy likely hood of the 5.7L hemi making a return to the ram 1500 trucks for a number of reasons. they also discussed how the production of the 5.7L hemi will be shifted into michigan which I really like.
I feel like the reception of the smaller 3L turbo charged hurricane engine has been very poor and buyers are skeptical of the engine nor is it what people asked for. I think Ram should of offered both the 5.7L and the 3L hurricane together to let the buyers decided what engine they wanted. very similarly to what both Ford and GM do. not to mention the F150 is the best selling vehicle in America.
Robert from mopar insider said that he thinks if the hemi returns it will only be offered in the lower trim levels like the tradesmen and the bighorn because this could also be a money saving move. the 5.7L hemi is a cheaper engine to make then the 3L hurrciane thus Ram could offer more competitive pricing on those lower trim level trucks.
other thing mentioned is that these hemi engines will most likely be paired wiht the e-torque system which I personally think is a little bit of a gimmick but I think it helps with the EPA regulations.
it looks like the 5.7L hemi will only be offered for the Durango, the ram 1500 and maybe the jeep grand cherokee and not the new dodge charger daytona. it was heavily speculated that the hemi V8's would be offered in the new muscle car but robert points out that the engine bay will not fit a hemi V8 so he sees it simply as not a possibility.
Let me know what ya think!!
