This is episode two in the Juno-106 restoration series. In this episode, I show how to disassemble the Juno-106, inspect the boards inside and start on the restoration. I work on the power supply and encounter a big problem. I remove and inspect the CPU board and voice board, install the Kiwi-106 board, then remove, disassemble, clean, restore and reassemble the keybed.
Time is not kind to old synthesizers, and the Juno-106 is no exception. In this video series, I take an old Juno-106 and restore it to better-than-new condition, with new chips and hardware, and then add all kinds of new functionality to bring it into the 21st century - while retaining the important qualities that make a Juno-106 so special. Join me on this restoration journey.
