This is episode three in the Juno-106 restoration series. In this episode, I remove the voice board and replace the voice and filter chips with new aftermarket chips from Analogue Renaissance, along with the CPU. Then I remove the old, noise chorus BBD chips from the jack board and replace them with new, aftermarket chips. I also remove and replace the volume and portamento pots on the bender board, then clean and lubricate everything before reinstalling all the boards into the case and hooking everything up. But...we're not done yet!
Time is not kind to old synthesizers, and the Juno-106 is no exception. In this video series, I take an old Juno-106 and restore it to better-than-new condition, with new chips and hardware, and then add all kinds of new functionality to bring it into the 21st century - while retaining the important qualities that make a Juno-106 so special. Join me on this restoration journey.
