Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration project. That restoration was very difficult from the technical side, but in any cases I successfully finished it, and I'm happy now. I got good tool for my workshop and outdoors. I found at flea market. It was used for a very long time, because there was a crack in the poll, and the blade was broken.
Restoration process: First, I removed a piece of old axe handle. Then I used rust remover liquid, washed and start to used angle grinder machine. Based on the fact that the crack was in the poll of the axe, using an angle grinder, I cut out an opening for the weld. The first seams were electrode # 2 and the surface was already electrode #3. Next, I sanded via angle grinder machine everything, including the surface of the axe. After, I used files and sandpaper to finish correction of shape an axe.
For handle, I used birch tree. I had an old blank and I used it. In the end, I burned the handle of the axe. I soaked the handle in wood wax. And used some leather for it. As usual, I made an axe test for you. I hope, you will enjoy this restoration video.
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
