On 11/2/2024 the 470 Railroad Club of North Conway, NH debuted their recently restored Boston & Maine GP9 1741. 1741 is a 1957 EMD product that spent its entire life working on Boston & Maine, later Guilford and Pan Am territory in New England. It was more recently acquired by the 470 Club so it could be restored and now after restoration it is once again operating on home rails. This video follows 1741's first public excursion from North Conway to Conway and then up Crawford Notch to Fabyans. The GP9 led the train to Conway Station before being spliced in between the B&M F7A pair for the trip up the mountain. This was the first time this type of set has operated on the B&M/MEC in decades and it was certainly a treat seeing these climb the up the Mountain Division. Stay tuned for future videos, hopefully some of 1741 operating on the Conway Branch next season!
