**Title:** Restoring a Butchered Silvertone Thinline – Full Neck Reset, Fret Job & More!
**Description:**
This vintage **Silvertone thinline** came into the shop with some *serious* problems—whoever attempted the last neck reset absolutely botched it, bottoming out the bridge and even screwing the tailpiece directly into the top to compensate. That led to some caving in on the top, and let's just say, fixing it was *not* straightforward.
In this video, I take on the full restoration, including:
✅ **Neck reset** – rebuilding the mortise & tenon for a proper fit
✅ **Fret job** – leveling, crowning, and dressing the frets for smooth playability
✅ **Tailpiece correction** – removing the screws and restoring its floating design
✅ **Side reinforcement** – repairing damage around the output jack
✅ **Electronics overhaul** – rewiring and cleaning up the pickups
✅ **New bone nut** – improving tone and sustain
Despite its rough history, this guitar turned out to be a **super quirky, unique-sounding instrument**, and the client was thrilled with the results. Vintage Silvertones have a certain charm you just can’t fake, and once set up properly, they play *way* better than most people expect.
🎥 Like most of my repair videos, I *tried* to document the full process, but, well... filming while working is a challenge. So if it cuts off abruptly, at least you get a look at just how much effort goes into restoring an old guitar like this.
