This is part two of my first ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. My ride was on the Sunday of the 2022 debut weekend for the newly restored 2-6-6-2 Mallet #1309. I rode in the open air car, and GP-30 #501 provided additional power at the rear of the train.
We had almost two hours to explore Frostburg Depot with the option of taking a shuttle up the hill to the main town. I skipped the shuttle ride, had lunch at a nice little burger stand while watching #1309 steam. Then I took a short walk down the Great Allegheny Passage trail to see the entire consist of the train and admire the stunning vistas from the mountain.
