The Roam Scotland Rally 2024 - Part 2- East and Cairngorms Route.
In part 2 we haver to decide are we going to take the alternate diversion because of the weather forecasts or are we going to push through and stay the course on the rugged route?
The route is one of the ROAM Scotland Rally annual rides. The organisation has a selection of routes which change each year. We have already ridden the West Coast and Islands route and the Borders routes which were excellent and there are videos about these events and more about the RSR group in our playlists.
The event is a group start but you are free to wildcamp or take accommodation along the route. We carried out tent and equipment and wildcamped all nights bar the first where we stopped in at Blair Atholl Castle Campsite.
This year the route set off from Perth as follows:
52% off-road; 91 km/day, 1250 m Asc /day
Day 1: Perth to Pitlochry = 79km, 1376m
Day 2: Pitlochry to Glenmore = 104km, 1454m
Day 3: Glenmore to Forres/Findhorn = 83/85km, 740m
Day 4: Forres/Findhorn to Tomintoul = 107km, 1547m
Day 5: Tomintoul to Aboyne = 86km, 1090m
Day 6: Aboyne to Glen Prosen = 99km, 1830m
Day 7: Glen Prosen to Perth = 72km, 672m
The route and more details are available at https://roamscotland.org/
We had a fantastic time and would like to thank Calum who is the lead organiser and has invested so much time in crafting the routes. This was our favourite to date !
