After defeating Shin Metal Sonic, Sonic is infected by a surge of Shin Energy, turning him evil and spreading chaos across Station Square by transforming civilians into monstrous Shin Humans. Knuckles, Player, and Tails find protective Chaos Emerald necklaces, but Tails is infected before he can use his, becoming Shin Tails. They encounter Robotnik, who reveals a ray gun that can cure Shin Energy infection, but he’s destroyed by Shin Sonic before he can use it. With a final, full-charge blast from the gun, Player manages to cure both Shin Tails and Shin Sonic, restoring them to their true selves and saving Station Square.
