Sierra Leone Returns to Carlisle
Class 20s head north
Prestwick Aviation Fuel Empties head south
09 May 25
Recorded at Carlisle's Citadel Station.
I'd wanted to record three specific trains -
LSL's Class 20s heading from Upperby (they'd arrived the previous evening) to Bo'ness ready for a charter from Leven to Oban.
GBRf's train of Aviation Fuel empties from Prestwick to Grain Oil Terminal. This runs as 10-wagon trains north of Carlisle and had collected the full consist at Carlisle Network Yard before heading down the West Coast Main Line for the Grain Oil Terminal in Kent.
West Coast's surprise Private Charter from Brighouse, West Yorkshire, to Edinburgh - north via the East Coast Main Line and south via Carlisle and the Settle & Carlisle line. Jubilee Galatea, masquerading still as Sierra Leone, headed the train from Carlisle to Blackburn with the assistance of a pair of Class 47s. Due to the Steam 'ban' steam had not to pull the train itself.
The times shown on clips are for guidance only and shouldn't be taken as definitive.
