The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) is a brooding, eternal land of Precambrian rock and water, with ancient trails trod deep by the moccasins and snowshoes of countless generations. Stretching more than a 100 miles along the Canadian border, the Boundary Waters is a federal wilderness within the Superior National Forest and an international treasure. It is a land of 1.1 million acres of unbroken forests and more than a thousand lakes, where with only a few exceptions motorized transport is strictly prohibited.
