Southern 2-8-2 #4501 made her return to the mainline in late June 2015. Along with the 1st Southern Railway SD-40, #4501 pulled 3 days of Norfolk Southern "21st Century Steam" public excursions from the Bristol VA depot. #4501 pulled 2 roundtrip excursions between Bristol and Radford VA on the Norfolk & Western, and 1 roundtrip between Bristol and Bulls Gap TN on the Southern.
