What an action packed day M15 & F23 had today! An adult intruder came into the nest tree and nest early in the morning and stayed for hours. We have some excellent views of the intruder on the attic/outer branch with closeups of its face, talons, feet and eyes (good for ID purposes).
F23 came flying in hot to the nest around mid morning and she kicked the intruder with her foot. She went to the veranda to gain more momentum and knocks the intruder off the nest. The intruder flew to the front pines and then flew off and returned to the outer branch of the nest tree. F23 is alerting from the nest. The intruder flies off heading west - F23 goes to the veranda and attic and keeps watch.
A few minutes later, the intruder flies into the upper branch and F23 begins alerting again. The intruder takes off a few minutes later, circles the area and returns to the upper branch. The intruder flies off finally & F23 will fly off as well. Coverage includes cam 1, pond cam and the 360 view.
The intruder was not finished and will return later and M15 & F23 will both defend the nest and chase the intruder away (that will be in a subsequent video) The intruder was smaller than F23 so it most likely was a male. In addition it's vocals were a higher pitch. M15 was not around at this time while the intruder was interacting with F23 so it may have just had its sights on her and the nest. M15 will defend the nest with F23 together against the intruder later in the day. Thank you for watching.
