One of the most important concepts in anyone's life is that of desire. Desires organise so much of our behaviour, thoughts, and emotions, and yet we rarely stop to think where they come from. Yet this was the topic that fascinated the French Genius Rene Girard. In his book "Deceit, Desire, and The Novel", he outlines his theory of Mimetic desire, and its rather dire consequences for us, and for humanity.
