বিগত দশকে ইউরোজোন জুড়ে চলা ঋণ সংকট, ব্রেক্সিট, অর্থনৈতিক সহযোগিতায় ঘাটতি ও আর্থিক বৈষম্য, বিচ্ছেদের প্রশ্নটিকে জাগিয়ে তুলছে। জোটবদ্ধ বড় দেশে অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধি কমে গেলেও ছোট দেশের অর্থনীতি বাড়ছে ক্রমবর্ধমান হারে। সদস্য দেশের মধ্যে বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে আয়বৈষম্য। মুক্তবাজার, একক মুদ্রা এবং একক নাগরিকত্ব প্রচলনের কারণে সদস্যরা হারিয়েছে অর্থনৈতিক স্বাধীনতা, সংকুচিত হয়েছে রাজনৈতিক সার্বভৌমত্বও। মেধাপাচার ও অভিবাসন সমস্যা তো আছেই।
