This episode shows the lengths Lumon will go to for manipulation and control. The ORTBO experience is part of Ricken’s book The You You Are - rewritten for the Innie’s. There’s connections to the book Dr. Zhivago, the Greek Myth Orpheus and Eurydice, parallels to baptism and crucifixion, demonization of sex, The Montauk Project, the Theremin, and an interesting link to adolescence and the Innie’s. The end goal of Lumon is to transfer minds - and I think a part of that is to create incubators, use severed minds to grow new bodies for the elite. Lumon also seems to be testing their various controls, and trying to control individual brainwaves for taming the Innie’s tempers.
