While undergoing repairs, the TARDIS is caught in the pull of a massive gravitational field. Romana is imprisoned after discovering that the ship is carrying a group of young slaves on board. The Doctor follows the ship to the planet Skonnons, where the enslaved youngsters are to be sacrificed to the Nimon, a bull-headed alien who has promised the Skonnons wealth and power in exchange. Meanwhile, Romana is transported to the dying planet Crinoth, where she uncovers the devastating truth: the Nimon have already exhausted the planet's resources. Can she get back in time to warn the Doctor before it's too late?
