Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Finding the ‘perfect’ size CRT for my setup has taken some trial and error. Typically I’ve felt bigger is better, but everyone has their sweet spot determined by the available space, the distance to viewing and what they can safely carry. For most, 20-30” is the ideal range that’s manageable to carry without breaking one’s back, and gives plenty of screen realestate to enjoy gaming and watching movies.

I’ve gone from gaming on a 20” BVM 20F1 with 900TVL, to a 32” behemoth Grundig, and now to a middle of the line 26” Blaupunkt. Although the title says the TV is 27”; an intentional error as our 26” CRT’s were the equivalent of the northern hemisphere NTSC-region 27”, which seems to be a popular choice for retro gaming. This TV has the same chassis as Grundig CUC 5360 and Siemens CS 9106. It has a single RGB scart socket, so to streamline my setup I installed a simple switch to connect/disconnect the scart blanking voltage to display composite video output from the G-Scart switch. This is a sort document of my journey in building my ideal retro gaming setup that works for me. You may have a better time on a smaller TV in composite or upscaled to 1080p on an OLED. We all have our preferences, so just have fun and respect others opinions on what works for them. #crt #crttv #scart
