We all know Joe Walsh’s greatest hits like Rocky Mountain Way, Life’s Been Good, Life in the Fast Lane, Take it to the Limit, Turn to Stone, etc.…but Joe Walsh was creating great iconic guitar riffs well before his solo career and well before his Eagles career while he was with the James Gang.
In this episode I look at three of these early riffs and songs: Funk #49, Walk Away, and The Bomber. Joe Walsh was near the ground floor of guitar greats writing these songs while Hendrix was still alive, and the Beatles were still a band (barely). Guitar legends are unanimous in singing his praises. Jimmy Page received his first and primary Les Paul from Joe Walsh. I think one could make a great case that Joe Walsh deserves a spot on the Mt. Rushmore of guitar greats!
