Warning: I am not a computer professional, this is not a tutorial!
I'm upgrading my Lenovo Thinkpad T430 with an i7 3540M CPU and 16GB of RAM.
In addition to this, I'm replacing a few worn components, including the touch pad buttons and the slot cover that cracked.
I had already replaced the keyboard and the touch pad sticker.
I will remove the optical drive to replace it with additional memory (instead of crackers I will put the Hard Drive Bay Adapter).
I will also replace the UEFI BIOS battery to no longer have the system date problem.
The heatsink looked horrible, I made it flat and polished it. Personally I do not recommend manipulating the copper exchange surface, to ruin everything you just need to create an imperceptible depression and it will make the problem worse than the initial one.
So, again: I do not recommend manipulating the heatsink with sandpaper or polishing paste.
To remove the CPU I used tape, it is a not very sticky tape and comes off easily, I also do not recommend this: there is the risk of manipulating the CPU badly and bending the pins. I do it because the invisible elf in my garden told me to do so.
I held the fan still with tape during cleaning so as not to accelerate it and damage the bearings.

In this video i talk about it.
For my use of the computer I did not consider a more powerful processor necessary (with its overheating problems and the need for a different heatsink) and the increased rear battery necessary.
In the end everything seems to work well. I removed W10 and loaded an SSD with Ubuntu because I study Bash there and do a bit of command line programming (just for fun).
I also use W10, so I am not a fan of either operating system in particular. I'm often without the slot cover and I change SSDs based on the system I need at the moment.
The next work I plan to do on this pc is a new pattern on the palm rest, this time done with more precision.
The screw scene is true, unfortunately for me. I cut it but it lasted much longer. In the end that screw and I reconciled and became friends.
Thanks for watching the video.
Bye to everyone!
