I came back from the V&A Museum last month with a weird little drawing that didn't altogether make sense:

This beautiful embroidered Victorian coat seems to have a bizarre seam right across the middle of one of the velvet panels.

Throughout March I've been scribbling on tracing paper trying to persuade it to make sense. If I can figure out what the pattern for the original coat might have looked like, I'll have a much better chance of capturing a little of its magic, and making my coat look just as unusual and beautiful as the original one.
