In this build series, I am working with Cliff Hall, a toolmaker from New Zealand. Cliff has invented a thread milling attachment for a knee mill that allows for cutting both internal and external threads of both metric and imperial pitches. It can be mounted on the rear edge of the XY table of a Bridgeport style mill and it is entirely manually operated. In this episode:
* Engraving the pitch scales and the helix angle scale using the CNC mill and a drag engraving bit.
* CNC milling the brackets for a 150mm digital linear scale for monitoring and checking the accurace of ThreadExpress.
* Making the brass dust shields for the spindle bearings.
* How not to modify a linear scale!
* Resolving another dumb mistake....
