I was inspired to create this fungus growth effect after watching Last of Us. The visual effects artist in me loved how much effort and attention to detail went into their filmmaking, both with practical and visual effects. I wanted to capture the complex organic growth of a living organism, and I looked at a lot of videos of slime mold for inspiration.
