Udumalaipettai, also known as Udumalai, is a town with a long and interesting history. Long ago, it was part of the ancient Konkan region, known for farming and trade. During British rule, Udumalai became a busy market town. Farmers sold cotton, turmeric, groundnuts, and vegetables here. It helped improve farming with better water supply. In the late 1900s, windmills were set up, making Udumalai one of the first towns in Tamil Nadu to use wind energy. Even today, the temples, weekly markets, old houses, and farms show the town’s strong link to its past. Udumalpet is a town that has grown over time but still keeps its culture and traditions.
