Beautiful Math

This is a channel devoted to the visual beauty of mathematics. My greatest joy is to create animations of mathematical patterns I find aesthetically pleasing and share them with others. Some are inspired by things in nature, like a field of wheat blowing in the wind or a fluttering flag. In others, I take a simple pattern, such as beads sliding back and forth along the spokes of a wheel, and vary the pattern over time and space in to create a beautiful and mesmerizing optical illusion. Others are animations of fractals, such as the 3D Sierpinski pyramid.

I create these animations using computer programming. No knowledge of math or coding is needed to enjoy these videos! My hope is that by watching them you might be inspired to learn more about math.

I love questions and comments, so please ask me anything at jbschattman@gmail.com.

Got ideas for other animations? Please send them to me, and maybe I'll take up the challenge. Or be inspired and code them on your own!
