Video Not Working? Fix It Now

In this interview, Venkat Singh Shyam, a well-known Gond artist, recalls that particular moment in his life when he was first introduced to the world of art. Terms like ‘designs’, ‘patterns’, ‘style’, captured his sincere attention. In conversation with Indira Mukherjee, a folklorist and writer, Venkat Singh shares his journey, starting at age seven when he first saw a charcoal painting made by his maternal uncle. Since then, his interest in the field has catapulted to great heights. He soon started curating posters for the video parlors and ultimately shifted to Bhopal under the influence of Jangarh Singh Shyam, the creator of ‘Jangarh Kalam’, a new school of Indian art.
