why only 1,5mm gasket if i have 3mm more stroke?!?
LONGstroke, which gasket? If you change the stroke, gaskets are needed to compensate the longer stroke. 60mm has 3mm more stroke = 1,5mm at every end, at the top- and bottom dead end = 1,5mm, so a 1,5mm gasket is needed for 3mm more stroke.
BUT mostly on top not at the bottom ;)
A gasket at the BOTTOM raises the cylinder and due to that of course all port edges of the cylinder, which means also ALL cyl timings become higher but it lowers the important blowdown ((ex - tr)/2)
and this makes the power band smaller and causes a lack of power in low rev, often a normal 57mm setup will run better than.
If u get this tip, to use a bottom gasket with longstroke, smile nicely, say thx, and move on. This person just confessed, that its not skilled in detailed vespa tuning ;)
Ah, and longstroke is TOTALLY overrated.
(and the needed rotary valve tolerance mostly forgotten as well) only a few more cc (for a lot of hazzle) do not make a fast strong engine (esp when the timings are set wrongly due to that)
