American Express, In the midst of the recession in 2010 created a marketing campaign on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to indirectly discourage people to shop in Walmart. In 2011, the Senate unanimously passed a resolution in support of
the campaign, and officials in all 50 states participated. It even gets a shout-out from the president of the United States.
