For November 2023's "5th Wednesday" presentation, the Sierra Foothills ARC invited Dr. Ed Fong to talk about what he's learned about the uSDX Plus SDR Transceiver. This inexpensive and extremely innovative QRP radio uses a minimum number of parts and generates little heat, yet supports a fair representation of most Ham Radio communication modes through a good bit of software trickery.

Dr. Fong is an instructor teaching graduate classes in RF and High Speed Interface design at the University of California, Santa Cruz Silicon Valley campus. He obtained BSEE and MSEE degrees from UC Berkeley, and a Ph.D. from the University of San Francisco. During his 40 year career he worked for Motorola, National Semiconductor, Phillips Semiconductor, and Advanced Micro Devices. He has been a Ham Radio operator since 1968, holding the Amateur Extra call sign WB6IQN.
