One person drowns every twenty hours in the UK.
Tragically, many of these people are children and young people, and with swimming pools across the country closing at an unprecedented rate, that figure is surely set to rise.
So, in 2022 Professor Greg Whyte decided to do something about it.
This Olympian and endurance specialist set himself the toughest challenge of his life: 125 miles of open water swimming down the Thames, in a Guinness World Record time of just 4 days.
The aim of this monumental challenge was to help raise awareness of water safety and drowning prevention by raising funds for two lifesaving charities: the RLSS and RNLI.
This film is about that incredible challenge, where Greg set out to break a world record, and almost broke himself.
Whyte Water raised over £30,000 for the RLSS and RNLI.
If you'd like to contribute to these fantastic charities, a new fund has been launched with the release of this film. Please go to: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/whyte-water-fund
