While the vocal version isn’t a game source, it’s essential when discussing this song, so I’ve compared it with the game versions.
All remixes in this video are matched to the tempo and key of the vocal version. I thought mixing with the vocal track would be difficult, but it blended surprisingly well—just by adjusting each version’s tempo and key.
It’s unclear which arrangement—the vocal or the game sound—came first, but you can feel how true the arrangements stay to the original’s core. Realizing this made me love the song even more.
In the 30th-anniversary book "Dragon Quest 30th Anniversary: Koichi Sugiyama Works ~Yuusha Sugiyan LV85~," it’s noted that Sugiyama had planned for "Love Song Sagashite" to be sung by a vocalist from the start, so he composed it with pop music in mind.
