I get a lot questions asking do I footage of the "Bradford Side", the local name of the former Pennsylvania Panhandle Route west of Columbus, Ohio. It's not much, but this is it.

The last regularly scheduled passenger trains between Columbus and Bradford were in 1959. The Amtrak trains you see are the National Limited detouring between Columbus and Indianapolis account derailments or track work.

At Urbana, the Erie Dayton Branch once crossed on diamonds (there is a quick look of the forlorn track and signal), with Conrail's Bellefontaine Branch crossing overhead. There was an interlocking tower at the base of the bridge that was burned down in the early months of Conrail under suspicious circumstances.

I know some will be disappointed there isn't more coverage of Bradford. You must understand that even by Conrail Bradford was a shadow of its former self.

At Meekers (north of Greenville), Conrail built a connection with the Carlisle Secondary (the former Big 4 to Jackson, Michigan) to enable directional running between Meekers and Union City or Ansonia (via the nearby Indianapolis Line). Once the interlocking was placed in service it was controlled by the CTC operator in the Indianapolis dispatcher's office. The Bradford Side was single tracked between there and Union City, with a 2.5 mile siding extending from Union City whose switches and signals (named CP-East State Line) were also controlled by the CTC operator in the Indianapolis dispatcher's office.

And before you ask: As for footage west of here toward Chicago, all I've been able to come up with is a short film of a TP&W train at Kenneth (west of Logansport), and EL trains crossing the Panhandle at North Judson and Kouts, which I've already posted in my EL series.
