It is 8am and the sun is rising.
The old railway station on this stretch of the Yorkshire Moors Railway is at the end of the line. Once the lifeblood of the small town of Choberton, it now sits in quiet decline. Destined to close under the shadow of the Beeching Report, it has become a symbol of a community on the brink of change. Some residents, sensing the inevitable, have already started moving away, seeking work and opportunity elsewhere. Others remain, clinging to a fading hope, carrying on as though the station’s closure won’t strip the town of its heart and jobs. Trains still roll in for now, but each arrival feels like a goodbye, a reminder of a slower, vanishing way of life.
