Retro Odyssey ep.018
An IN-DEPTH review, analysis, and retrospective of Hi no Tori Hououhen: Gaou no Bouken for the Nintendo Famicom – with additional looks at the 1986 OVA for Phoenix as well as a look at Osamu Tezuka's 1969 Manga; the fifth volume of the Phoenix series known as the "Karma" chapter.
This is an exhaustive look at a game that most people haven't even heard of. It's a game that in a lot of ways could be viewed as a "NES Minecraft" with the way it lets you build and destroy blocks at will.
This is also a look at the Manga and Anime behind the licensing for this adventure as well as a look into differences in eastern and western though when it comes to concepts of karma and reincarnation.
I really hope you all enjoy this one. It took a lot out of me.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
