The Big-O changed crankbait fishing forever and introduced the "alphabet" era of shallow crankbaits. Designed by Fed C. Young while he was laid up at home recovering in a full body cast, Fred began to whittle out lures which he would give to his brother Odis "Big O" Young to field test. Before long the Big-O was a bass tournament secret and lure makers from around the country were searching for the elusive custom lure builder. Cotton Cordell found him first, and soon a plastic version of the Big-O was being sold across the United States. In its first year, over 1 million Big-Os were sold! Even today, this is a great shallow water crankbait for bass. Vintage fishing lure junkies should definitely check out the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club!
