Ginger Beer is a must have for every Guyanese at Christmas time. Eaten with fruit or black cake !
Ingredients
1-2 pound ginger
Approx 6 cups brown sugar
Pearl barley or brown rice
Cloves
Cinnamon sticks
Dried orange peel
Warm water
The skin of the ginger is very beneficial and safe to use.
Scrub or brush dirt off the ginger and grate.
Add all ingredients and leave to set in a warm place for 2 days.
Alcohol will brew after 3 days so it’s per choice of beer.
Strain and serve with or without ice.
Store in the refrigerator and enjoy.
