My brother can be quite a bother and a nuisance at times. However, his demands are often for pleasant and sweet things. Today, I began cooking rice to satisfy his craving for masala rice, which he kept insisting on. Although he had already eaten his breakfast earlier, he started complaining about his insatiable hunger. Recently, he has taken up a new pastime travelling around the country with his friends to sample different dishes. Once he returns home, he inevitably requests that I make those same dishes. Gobi Masala Rice is one of his latest cravings. He has a tendency to want these meals prepared quickly, yet he insists on perfect taste and quality. He even went to Uncle Gunadasa’s house to get a pot of curd, claiming he needed it to make a salad with curd to go with the rice.
Uncle Gunadasa is the only one in our village who has a herd of buffaloes, and we always get our curd from him. Given the high demand for curd in our village, I never thought there would be any left at his house. Uncle Gunadasa is very kind; he never charges us for a pot of curd. Although our relationship with him is somewhat distant, many of the elderly people in the village have great respect for my grandmother.
I prepared everything for a green salad, hoping there would be some curd available. Since I was in a hurry to get to the village committee meeting, I decided to cook the rice so that my brother could make the salad on his own once he brought back the pot of curd. I had my doubts about whether the rice, made with fried cauliflower (gobi) and eggs, would actually turn out to be delicious.
I felt very tempted to eat a mouthful of rice alongside my brother's green salad, which included raw tomatoes, green bell peppers, and green apples, just before attending the committee meeting. Despite my cravings, I decided to attend the committee and then come home and eat the delicious-looking rice instead. After that, I quickly headed to the committee meeting.
Love you All!
