Shown here is a very good condition, fully functioning and original Lenovo Thinkpad W700ds.

This laptop is one of Lenovo's crazier moments, that we were thankfully able to be blessed with before the worldwide economic penny pinching set in and Lenovo had to stop making interesting laptops. The laptop has a 1920x1200 WUXGA "MaxBright" display that can be optioned with a HueyPro color calibration sensor, to help hone in color accuracy. This particular W700ds also has the top CPU option, an Intel Core 2 Quad QX9300 2.53 GHz, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and this one was originally configured with a Quadro FX 3700M. The GPU has since failed, and I replaced it with a 2700M as those tend to be much more reliable and run a lot cooler. This one is using an original Lenovo-supply Hitachi 120GB HDD, with an original recovery installation of Windows Vista Business. This machine also has the Wacom tablet option on the palmrest.

This being a W700ds, the most well known feature is the second display which can be pulled out from the right side of the lid assembly and stowed when not being used. This 10.6" 768x1280 resolution display is not of particularly great quality, but is still more than good enough for actual use as a second display in mobile workstation and studio use. The second display's addition in the design of the Thinkpad W700 platform unfortunately makes it far more heavier and cumbersome, adding a good 2-3 lbs of extra weight and additional 10-12mm of thickness to the non-ds version. However, it still retains it's characteristic Thinkpad robustness and quality, while also being one of the few mass-produced mobile solutions to have a second display.
