Today I'm going to begin to build a Viking chest similar to other well known examples, such as the Mästermyr and Oseberg chests. In addition to my interest in swords, castles, and knights (not necessarily in that order), I love stories about Vikings and the art and artifacts they've left behind for us. Even though the actual materials and way that I build it (with modern tools) will obviously differ from their manufacturing methods and tools, hopefully the final result will, as much as possible, be reminiscent of what we see in the extant record.
I'm not an expert woodworker or anything like that, so please bear with me. Hopefully this will be entertaining anyway.
