Mixed-ability groups present a range of challenges and benefits. This talk will invite teachers to examine their own attitudes towards mixed-ability teaching. It will suggest that our expectations about learners can affect the learning environment, both face to face and online.
The talk will suggest effective techniques for planning activities, managing classroom interaction, and setting targets for learning with mixed-ability groups. You will see some practical examples of activities that adopt a more accommodating approach to the mixed-ability setting, enabling teachers to get the best out of the diversity in the classroom, whatever context they teach in.
